Field Service Technician I

Position Summary: Provide

excellent customer service in installation, repair, over haul, inspection,

trouble-shooting and testing of ZF Marine products (transmissions,

accessories, drive systems, control systems) in house and on-site as directed

through the following duties.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform

OE modifications, service repairs, unit overhauls and inspections,

general trouble-shooting and testing per scheduling.

  • Work

closely with ZF Marine staff to ensure appropriate actions are

implemented to meet customer demands and service and delivery issues are

resolved and communicated in a timely fashion.

  • Maintain

the shop work area and any tools and facility equipment required.

  • Ensure

company vehicle and equipment are well maintained and operated safely

and in accordance with ZF Marine policy and procedure.

  • Maintain

good housekeeping practices, while using safe work practices and the

proper tools and equipment, including precision measuring instruments

for the job assigned.

  • Extensive

travel within the region is required.

  • Perform

sea trials as required.

  • Ship/pack,

receive/store, and ensure proper inventory controls are maintained for

units, parts and accessories as required.

  • Assist

in Dealer and ZF Marine Technician training both in-house and at

customer facilities as required.

  • Conduct

warranty investigations and prepare required reporting.

  • Assist

in service order completion including associated paperwork.

  • Assists

in the general maintenance of the ZF Marine facilities as required.

  • Promote

and engage in the principles of employee involvement, team building and

continuous improvement.

  • Foster

a positive attitude towards company goals.

  • Perform other duties as

assigned.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • High

School diploma with 3+ years related experience

  • Product

knowledge, marine industry experience, basic electrical/electronic

knowledge, mechanical aptitude needed.

  • Must

possess strong analytical skills, have a solid work ethic and be able to

work cooperatively with a team.

  • Clear

and effective communication skills are required.

  • Computer

systems literacy required, including working knowledge of Outlook, Word,

and software applications such as Concur, E-Time, and Navision.

  • Must

possess a valid driver’s license.

  • Passport

/ TWIC / Port Security eligibility required.

  • 40-50%

domestic and international travel required.

Preferred Skills and experience:

  • Associates

Degree

  • Experience

in the Marine industry

  • Trade

school (AS) degree preferred or 4+ years related experience.

  • German

and/or Spanish language skills
