Wind Gearbox Mechanic 2- VHL
Primary Responsibility:Independently clean and prepare all wind turbine gearbox components inspection, put away and assembly. Support disassembly and assembly with material movements.
Under Supervision - Utilizes heating, cutting torches, hydraulic presses, high pressure extraction devices, and heavy power tools to remove couplings, gears, bearings and disassemble high pressure joints.
Under Supervision - Rig Gearboxes and main shafts around work shop with overhead cranes and fork trucks.
Match mark components and label disassembled parts in an organized manner.
Record components, serial numbers, upgrades and missing parts in the gearbox disassembly/assembly report.
Cleans all gearbox components as appropriate using manual equipment and parts washer.
Performs related tasks as assigned
Organizational Relationships:Reports to Team Leader, Has no direct reports.
Educational Requirements:High school diploma or GED required.
Experience Requirements:Previous mechanical experience preferred. Knowledge of hand or pneumatic tools, fork lift or pallet jack experience required. Previous lean manufacturing experience helpful. Must be able to read work instructions in English. Basic PC skills (on/off, read screen, toggle, use mouse, check inventory) all preferred.
Physical Requirements:Must be in good physical condition and follow appropriate industry and company safety and environmental policies. Must be able to bend, stand on feet 8 – 10 hrs per day. Lift up to 30 lbs frequently and 30lbs to 50lbs occasionally. Turn a wrench.
