ZF University Co-op Student Prototype in Solihull, United Kingdom
University Co-op Student Prototype
Division A - Engineering - Steering
An exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team responsible for delivering prototype Column-Drive electric steering systems to vehicle manufacturers and ZF engineering sites globally. ZF is one of the world’s largest producers of electric steering systems supplying a wide range of vehicle manufacturers including VW, Ford, Mazda, Renault and Fiat. The global centre for the design, development, engineering and validation of Electric Power Steering systems is based in ZF’s prestigious technical centre in Solihull.
The Prototype Department work closely with the product engineering teams to purchase, assemble and deliver prototype steering systems at product concept and design phases for use in customer trials, test track evaluation and validation testing. The production of steering systems to meet legal and safety requirements within the timescales required by the customer and engineering teams is extremely challenging and requires the ability to work under pressure and control multiple synchronous activities.
This is a very fast-paced sector requiring advanced planning and problem-solving skills for programmes with short design cycle times. The role is responsible for producing prototype components and assemblies, ensuring they meet drawing specifications and that adequate records are retained.
