Position Summary: Responsible for managing the purchasing and procurement of materials used by the plants and managing Bill of Material target price achievement and Forward Sourcing for new programs. Oversee vendor relations and supplier management to meet organizational needs. Managing the dedicated local Program Purchasing and coordination the project related global purchasing teams. Serve as a key member of the management team by planning, budgeting and meeting KPIs for the department, ultimately serving as a tactical and strategic business partner to operations and other functions.

Position Responsibilities:

•Manage project buyers and other project/program staff to ensure the completion of purchasing initiatives and related projects within the purchasing interface to program management and sales/acquisitions.

•Evaluate purchasing operations, assign and check work, maintain and track costs/budget, enforce company policy, complete performance reviews, make staffing and disciplinary decisions with HR, initiate and/or recommend Changes-In-Status, and resolve issues with day-to-day operations and/or customers as required.

•Train, develop and motivate employees, champion individual and team efforts, and aid in the development of purchasing professionals to achieve individual leadership and company goals and objectives.

•Manage methods/materials for total cost management, quality system conformance, and on-time delivery performance; prepare and present subsequent reports and recommendations to senior management.

•Manage global supply base and develop cost saving methods and opportunities in order to promote overall business unit productivity and supplier competitiveness (i.e. through VA/VE methods, quoting, independent negotiations, sourcing analyses, etc.).

•Plan, budget and meet operational and financial targets for Purchasing to maintain business plan parameters including allocated cost.

•Coordinate projects and daily activities with plant management, other domain functions, multiple Business Units at the site and the Divisions.

•Develop acquisitions sourcing strategy based on business unit targets and requirements.

•Manage continuous improvement programs and ensure departmental compliance with all TS requirements.

•Ensure departmental compliance with all ISO/TS 16949 or ISO 9001:2000, QS9000, and VDA requirements.

•Perform other duties as assigned.

•Coordinate with ZF, divisional and regional Commodity Management and supports Strategic Purchasing initiatives.

•Supplier selection based on TCO, divisional and Commodity Management strategies and input from plant.

•Escalation support for BU related to supplier delivery and quality issues.

•Responsible for managing, training and qualification of employees and performs performance evaluation. Motivate and support team and individual growth.

Essential Skills and Experience:

•Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Economics or related field and/or similar education

•8-10+ years of professional experience encompassing the majority of the following fields – purchasing, logistics, supplier quality/development/management, cost estimation/analysis, and/or business planning with 2+ years of managing/directing others and/or large purchasing projects in addition to delegating/tracking independent work assignments and purchasing-related programs

•Deep knowledge of purchasing tools, negotiation methods, and business processes/communications

•Deep knowledge of assigned commodities, materials, and related production interfaces/processes

•Deep knowledge in blueprint reading, statistics, APQP/PPAP documentation, product costing, and engineering/technical specifications

•Deep knowledge of cost improvement/containment topics and techniques

•Proficient with Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project etc.)

•Superior analytical abilities with a high attention to detail

•Proven ability to work independently in a fast paced, high-volume environment

•Proven ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel and management

•Solid organization and time/project management skills

•Experience with SAP

•Ability/willingness to travel both domestically and internationally

Preferred Skills and experience:

•Master’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Economics or related field

•10+ years of professional experience encompassing the majority of the following fields – purchasing, logistics, supplier quality/development/management, cost estimation/analysis, and/or business planning

•Experience in the Automotive industry
