Engineer Intern / Co-OP

Position Summary:The Engineer Analyst intern / co-op is

responsible for supporting ZF Marine Miramar’s R&D on electronic controls

development and testing, new transmission development, ADAS applications for

marine, and developing technical and business proposals for future innovation

projects.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the design, specifications,

budgeting and execution of various projects

  • Conduct analytical, environmental,

operational, or performance studies in order to develop designs for

products, such as marine engines, equipment, and structures.

  • Evaluate operation of marine equipment

during acceptance testing and shakedown cruises.

  • Analyze data in order to determine

feasibility of product proposals.

  • Confer with research personnel in order to

clarify or resolve problems, and to develop or modify designs.

  • Investigate and observe tests on machinery

and equipment for compliance with standards.

  • Conduct environmental, operational or

performance tests on marine machinery and equipment.

  • Determine conditions under which tests are

to be conducted, as well as sequences and phases of test operations.

  • Prepare product or system layouts and

detailed drawings and schematics.

  • Maintain records of engineering department

activities, including expense records and details of equipment

maintenance and repairs.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Essential

Skills and Experience:

  • Strong desire

to learn with a professional drive

  • Read and

analyze technical and complex documents and plans

  • Proficient in

MS Office and computer-based design programs

  • Excellent

verbal and written communication

  • Ability to work

in industrial setting which includes walking, bending and wearing

appropriate safety gear

  • Current enrollment in a

related BS or Master’s degree

  • Minimum GPA 3.0 – please

Preferred

Skills and experience:

  • Knowledge of

Integrate Product Team (IPT) operations

  • Shipyard

experience

  • German and/or

Spanish language skills
