General Summary: Under minimal supervision accomplishes assigned goals in maintenance of facilities equipment; typically includes chilled water systems, air conditioning, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, construction, landscaping, boilers and other associated facilities equipment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs scheduled/unscheduled maintenance required on facilities equipment.

  • Troubleshootsall electro-mechanical, hydraulic, refrigeration, and pneumatic systems.

  • Takes initiative to perform root-cause problem solving; identifies and resolves chronic problems.

  • Troubleshoots, repairs and maintains facility equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operational manuals and manufacturing specifications for HVAC, boilers, cooling towers, air compressors and dryers.

  • Repairs and maintains equipment using electrical, control voltage, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulics and controls.

  • Reads blueprints and has mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of shop equipment and measurement instrumentation.

  • Uses working knowledge of FMS to assist in maintaining control of temperature and humidity in buildings. Uses FMS to assist in troubleshooting facilities equipment. May make changes to FMS logic as directed to optimize facilities equipment.

  • Trains, supports, and shares knowledge with other technicians; may check the work of others.

  • Acts as a team leader for small projects.

  • Exercises sound judgment that considers safety, quality, and financial impacts in performance of work tasks.

Abilities:

Excellent communications skills; able to effectively brainstorm/challenge technical decisions and explore alternatives. Knowledge of high and low voltage required. Knowledge of above listed skills required. Must be flexible and able to work any shift. Must have working knowledge of all site facilities equipment and able to make repairs. Must have a higher level specialized skill, such as electrical or HVAC.

Education/Experience:

High School Diploma/GED required and some related certification or 60 credit hours towards a technical degree and/or* Minimum 7 years related experienceor combination of formal education and experience of which 4 years hands on experience is required and demonstrated proficiency.

Must possess or be able to acquire Universal CFC License.

Physical Requirements:

Must have hand dexterity at moderate speed with accuracy for half of each day. Requires steady, active effort and continuous walking. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. Must be able to work in all areas of the plant. Must be able to use ladders and elevated platforms.
